In this issue
  • Keri Russell
  • Scorpio Full Moon - May 13
  • Consultations
  • The Waxing Moon is released at the beginning of each lunar cycle, to inform you about my astrological take on film professionals, the upcoming full moon, and anything else that draws my attention.

    Keri Russell
    Keri Russell

'Felicity' will be on the big screen with Mr. Scientology in M:I:3, and to celebrate the occasion I have written an extensive analysis of Ms. Russell's personality and how the dynamics in her natal chart manifest in her WB character. You can read about Keri in the latest issue of Constellation, and I will post the essay on my blog once the Taurus issue comes out.

I'm taking a break from the Taurus issue of Constellation, since I've been very busy at work. However, I'm hoping to do Cancer JJ Abrams. Abrams, director of M:I:3, is also the creator of 'Felicity' as well as 'Alias' and 'Lost.' I finally have a birth date for him, so I am excited to see how his chart resonates with the themes of all these popular shows.

In the meantime, my Spike Lee essay is up on my website. Lynn Hayes has linked to it, so I must have done something right!

Scorpio Full Moon - May 13
    full moon

During any full moon, the Sun and Moon are in different elements of the same "gender." For example, on May 13 the Sun will be in Taurus, which is an earth sign, and the Moon will be in Scorpio, which is a water sign. Earth is pragmatic and sensual; water is sensitive and emotional. Both earth and water are feminine, or "yin." As in Taoism, there are some internal, receptive energies (yin), and some external, active energies (yang).

During a Scorpio moon, we go inward, exploring our secret selves, the parts of us we don't feel safe exposing, or would just rather keep to ourselves for integrity's sake. During a Scorpio full moon, our desire to transform and regenerate emotionally is in conflict with our Taurean desire to keep things stable. Earth is slow to change!

Mix earth and water, you get mud. We are in danger of dredging through an emotional swamp, stuck in stagnation. The solution is sifting the particles of earth from the water, to get to the pure feelings that require our scrutiny. When I prepare tea, I put leaves in a strainer -- there is little more nurturing than this combination of earth and water.

Fortunately, during this Scorpio full moon, we have the assistance of Uranus and Mars to shock us out of our torpor. The Moon is in a grand trine with these planets, which means that they all make approximately 120 degree angles to each other. This is a configuration of flow, and all three heavenly bodies fall in water signs. Uranus shocks and awakens, while Mars energizes and activates.

Throw in an opposition between Jupiter in Scorpio (also active in this grand trine) and Mercury in Taurus, and we have a resistant mind fighting against the desire to expand ourselves through exploration of intense emotions and transformative practices such as magick.

Although the Sun shines its light in stick-in-the-mud Taurus (not that I have anything against you!), I would suggest digging deep (note the Taurus metaphor) into your feelings with beneficial Jupiter at your side, spurring you on to rebirth.

    Consultations
    Jeff Kishner

I provide consultations combining my understanding of astrology with my psychotherapeutic training. Think of a consultation as an opportunity to explore the most active parts of your chart right now in depth, rather than gloss over the meaning of every planet, sign, aspect and element.
