  • The Waxing Moon is released at the beginning of each lunar cycle, to inform you about my astrological take on film professionals, the upcoming full moon, and anything else that draws my attention.

    The Scorpionic Peter Jackson

OK, so he's lost some weight since this picture was taken. Peter Jackson, director of King Kong, Lord of the Rings, Heavenly Creatures and some gore flicks, is a Scorpio who has managed to express the full range of this sign, in films ranging from a scatological puppet movie to an art house film exploring the deep emotional bond between two girls. My latest Astrology at the Movies essay explores the Scorpionic nature of Jackson's films, as well as how he expresses his Sun's conjunction to Neptune.

Cancer Full Moon - January 14
    Full Moon

Do you look for a lover who will make you look good, who raises your "value" among your elite social circle? This is what Venus in Capricorn looks for, as Capricorn wants to rise to the top of the mountain, to be successful in the world of love, or at least attain the security and status that a love-object can provide.

This full moon, Venus will be opposing the Cancer moon. The emotional security and nurturing that Cancer wants is traded off with the status we acquire having a trophy wife or husband. True intimacy is unlikely when the wife just wants money for her fur coat, or the husband expects his wife to keep up the workouts and botox injections so she can remain eye-candy (to use a heterocentric example...).

    The Previous Full Moon

The previous Gemini full moon highlighted Howard Stern's move to satellite radio, and New York City's transit strike, both under the rulership of the sign of radio communications and local transportation. Read the first entry in my other blog, The Brooklyn Astrologer, for more about the timing of Howard Stern's transition.

    New Magazine

There's a new online astrology magazine that looks like no astrology magazine I've seen before. Reading it is like flipping through a fashion magazine; there's art, poetry, photo shoots, movie and music reviews, and a whole lot of astrology, much of it accessible to the beginner. It's called Constellation, and I've written an article on C. S. Lewis for the inaugural Oct/Nov 2005 issue. (By the way, you can enter anything or nothing for User ID and password, and you'll be granted access.)

    Astrology Consultations

Astrology consultations are 80 minutes in length and cost 120 dollars. They are available in my Brooklyn or Manhattan offices, or over the phone. I will mail you a CD recording of your session so that you can listen to it later at your convenience. I review the potential gifts and struggles as indicated by your birth chart, and provide a preview of the next eighteen months, using predictive techniques including transits, progressions and eclipses.
