    The Wedding Crashers

Everything has a horoscope; the key is figuring out in what moment of time that "thing" was born. Although a movie "brews" for a long time—starting with the story and ending with the last-minute edits and re-shoots to please test audiences—the film is "born" when it is released in theaters. Wedding Crashers was released on July 15, 2005. Despite the lack of some critical information that we would find necessary for the analysis of a natal chart for an individual or a nation—such as the rising sign and exact degree of the moon—we can survey how the basic themes of a film correspond with the placement of all the planets and the Sun.

    Full Moon

The Full Moon always accentuates the opposite energy of whatever season we're in. As we enter fall, the Aries moon highlights all that which Libra is not. Whereas Libra focuses on balance, mediation and people-pleasing, Aries is about directness, impulsivity and forthrightness. The burst of growth that accompanies Spring contrasts with the delicate balancing process of Libra, in which the scales are tipped towards the Scorpionic process of death and decay.

This Full Moon is accentuated two-fold: it is a Lunar Eclipse, and it is opposing Jupiter in Libra. Eclipses are more intense than regular full moons. Where the effects of a full moon will last two weeks, an eclipse will be felt for six months. So if this eclipse triggers sensitive points in your chart, it will be significant.

Jupiter rules philosophy and religion, law, and the yearning to expand one's horizons through international travel or higher learning. In Libra, we find meaning in beauty, balance, and gracefulness. We experience great pleasure in social interactions. In opposition to the Aries Full Moon, there is a conflict between the part of us that wants to meet our own needs, and the part of us that wants to please others. Jupiter exaggerates this dynamic, and may elicit feelings of grandiosity or arrogance. When you go for what you want in as direct a manner as you please, there may be some haughty know-it-all who judges you for not going about it the "right" way.

How the previous full moon played out in my life

As I discussed last month, I was expecting an argument with my S.O., since the Full Moon was going to conjoin my natal Venus. Well, that didn’t happen, fortunately. Instead, on the day of the Full Moon I ran into a psychotherapy client on the main commercial drag where I live; both of us were with company. My Venus is in the seventh house, which rules marriage and business partnerships. In the case of a therapist, the seventh house would denote clients, for it is both a business partnership and an emotionally intimate relationship. Moreover, Venus rules Libra, which is on the cusp of my third house, which rules neighborhoods; and Taurus, which is on the cusp of my tenth house, which rules my career.

The aspects during the Full Moon also were in effect. The opposition of Mercury to the Moon related to the conflict (opposition) regarding being able to openly communicate (Mercury) with my client. As a psychotherapist, I am obligated to respect her confidentiality. Pluto, which squared the Mercury-Moon opposition, rules secrets, that which must remain hidden; in this case, the fact that I know her.

April Elliott Kent has also written an excellent, moving essay on how the Virgo/Pisces duality played out in the country’s reaction to Hurricane Katrina.
